Why Vigilante Stories Are Still Necessary

Even when the system malfunctions, justice still exists.

What makes fictional vigilantes appealing to us? Because we secretly know that there are flaws in the system, and we are drawn to tales in which someone defies the law to act morally.

Teresa is more than simply a vigilante in Mud City. She is justice-encased in suffering, loss, and change. She embodies everyone who has ever declared, “I will help if no one else will.”

These tales allow us to challenge authority, face evil, and perhaps—just possibly—have faith that right triumphs over wrong.
